Dhanu Rashifal for 31 May: Work, Love and Health

Aaj ka Dhanu rashifal, read from your Moon sign. Dhanu (धनु) is the 9th rashi, 240° to 270° of the sidereal zodiac, ruled by Jupiter, and it holds all four padas of Mula, all four padas of Purva Ashadha and Uttara Ashadha pada 1. In English it is called Sagittarius, but here it means the sign the Moon was in at your birth, not your birthday sign. Every line below names its graha, the house that graha holds from Dhanu and the classical verse behind it.

1 of the 9 planets supports · 8 need attention

The day's main graha: the Moon (in the attention list).

Jupiter in Singh, your 9th (fortune, dharma and father), until 24 Jul, 3:37 PM: classically a favourable house; classical reading: fortune, success and children.

The Moon in Singh, your 9th, until Thursday 1 Jun, 12:34 PM: classically not a favourable house; classical reading: a tired mind and official matters.

The Sun in Vrishabh, your 6th (health, work and competition), until 15 Jun, 1:14 AM: classically a favourable house, but the Sun is in Vrishabh, whose lord Venus is not its natural friend, so its support is muted; classical reading: health picking up, an edge over rivals and worries easing.

Mars in Vrishabh, your 6th, until 12 Jul, 3:16 PM: classically a favourable house, but the Moon and Jupiter in your 9th hold it back (vedha), and Mars is close to the Sun (combust), so its support is held back; classical reading: disputes settling, good health and gains.

Mercury in Vrishabh, your 6th, until 5 Jul, 5:03 PM: classically a favourable house, but Jupiter in your 9th holds it back (vedha), and Mercury is close to the Sun (combust), so its support is held back; classical reading: success and standing.

Venus in Vrishabh, your 6th, until 1 Aug, 12:33 PM: classically not a favourable house, but Venus is in Vrishabh, its own sign, and also close to the Sun (combust); classical reading: setbacks and health.

Questions

Dhanu Rashi Questions

Who is the lord (swami) of Dhanu rashi?

Jupiter, the lord of Dhanu, is in Singh on 31 May, the 9th house from Dhanu, until 24 Jul, 3:37 PM. Jupiter rules Dhanu in every classical text we read: Brihat Jataka 1.6, Saravali 3.11 and Phaladeepika 1.6. Jupiter also rules Meen.

Which name letters (naam akshar) belong to Dhanu rashi?

On 31 May, the Moon is in Singh; its next stay in Dhanu runs from 8 Jun, 12:49 AM to 10 Jun, 9:18 AM: a child born in those hours has Dhanu as janma rashi. Dhanu's nine name syllables, one for each nakshatra pada, are Ye, Yo, Bha, Bhi (Mula 1–4); Bhu, Dha, Pha, Dha (Purva Ashadha 1–4); Bhe (Uttara Ashadha 1). A name starting with one of them gives Dhanu as the name rashi, which matches the janma rashi only when the name was chosen from the birth nakshatra.

Which nakshatras are in Dhanu rashi?

On 31 May, the Moon is in Purva Phalguni; its next pass through Dhanu begins in Mula pada 1, from 8 Jun, 12:49 AM. Dhanu covers 240° to 270° of the sidereal zodiac: all four padas of Mula, all four padas of Purva Ashadha and Uttara Ashadha pada 1, nine nakshatra padas in all, as every rashi has (Brihat Jataka 1.4, Hora Sara 1.13). If your rashi is Dhanu, your birth nakshatra is one of these.

What are Dhanu rashi people like?

They are described as good speakers, skilled in arts and crafts, strong and bold, and versed in dharma and the shastras; the texts give them a long face and a prominent neck. These are the points that at least two of Brihat Jataka 17.9, Saravali 23.58 and Hora Sara 29.9 share. Brihat Jataka 17.13 adds that this picture holds in full only when the Moon, Dhanu and its lord Jupiter are all strong in the birth chart, and Hora Sara 29.13 that a graha joining or aspecting the Moon changes it, so your own kundli says more than the rashi alone.

When do Sade Sati and Shani dhaiya start and end for Dhanu rashi?

Neither Sade Sati nor dhaiya is running for Dhanu on 31 May: Saturn is in Mesh, the 5th house from Dhanu. The next dhaiya (8th house) for Dhanu runs from 13 Jul 2034 to 27 Aug 2036. Each span runs from Saturn's first entry to its final exit, with every pause shown, and is counted from the Moon sign as Phaladeepika 26.22–23 and Brihat Samhita 104 count it. Classically Sade Sati and dhaiya ask for steady effort and patience; neither is a fixed outcome.

When does the time change for Dhanu rashi?

Jupiter moves into Kanya on 24 Jul, 3:37 PM, the 10th house from Dhanu; Saturn moves into Vrishabh on 8 Aug 2029, 12:32 PM, the 6th house from Dhanu; Rahu moves into Vrishchik and Ketu into Vrishabh on 4 Feb 2030, 1:08 PM, the 12th and 6th houses from Dhanu (true node; by the mean node many almanacs print, on 11 Jan 2030). Saturn, Jupiter and Rahu–Ketu stay in a sign for many months, so their changes set the background for Dhanu, and each change above names the house it brings. The daily reading on this page weighs all nine grahas together, and no rashi has a good or a poor time as a whole.

What is Dhanu rashi in English?

On 31 May, at 12:12 PM, the Sun is in Gemini 10°21′ by the tropical zodiac that birthday signs use, but in Vrishabh 16°05′ by the sidereal zodiac of Vedic astrology. Dhanu is called Sagittarius in English, yet a rashi is the Moon's sign at birth in the sidereal zodiac, not the birthday sign, so someone whose birthday makes them Sagittarius need not have Dhanu rashi.

Lost in the Sun's glare; in a favourable house its support is muted (Phaladeepika 26.32). Guru and Shukra: while not seen from India's reference latitude, 23°11′N (IAE); Mars, Mercury and Saturn by the books' degrees (Surya Siddhanta 9.6–9.8).
Felt most
The third of a sign in which a graha's transit is classically felt most: the Sun and Mars the first, Jupiter and Venus the middle, the Moon and Saturn the last (Phaladeepika 26.25; Muhurta Chintamani 4.19).
Mean-node reckoning
Rahu and Ketu by their average motion, which many almanacs print; its dates can differ from the true node by days.
Panchang windows in your Chandrabala
Abhijit, Amrit Kalam, Brahma Muhurta, Vijaya or a Labh, Shubh or Amrit choghadiya, clear of Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda, Dur Muhurtam, Varjyam and Bhadra, inside the hours when the Moon is in the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 10th or 11th from your Moon sign.
Debilitated (neecha)
The sign opposite its exaltation, where a graha is weakest (BPHS ch. 3).
Unfriendly sign
A sign whose lord the graha naturally counts as hostile (BPHS ch. 3).

What supports
A graha in a house the texts count favourable, with nothing holding it back, or counted supportive by reverse vedha (Muhurta Chintamani 4.4).
Points that call for patience
Every other graha, each with the fact that puts it there: a house the texts do not count favourable, vedha, a debilitation or unfriendly sign, combustion, its own or exaltation sign in an unfavourable house, the Moon's company, or Chandrashtama.
House meaning
What each house stands for (Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra ch. 11): 1 self and body, 2 family, wealth and speech, 3 courage and siblings, 4 mother, home and happiness, 5 children, education and intelligence, 6 health, work and competition, 7 marriage and partnership, 8 research and hidden matters, 9 fortune, dharma and father, 10 career and karma, 11 gains and friends, 12 expenses, foreign lands and moksha.
