An arcsecond is 1/3,600 of a degree. The Moon, the fastest graha, moves 2 arcseconds in about 4 seconds of time, and the lagna moves 6 arcseconds in under half a second: far finer than any birth time on record.

How the review works
- 1.
Calculated
Your kundli is ready in about 20 seconds. Download it straight away.
- 2.
Written
One of our astrologers checks your birth details and writes an overall note, and a note on each of your three questions.
- 3.
Checked
A second astrologer reads it and approves it. Only then is it marked reviewed: the reviewed Janampatrika, with the date it was approved, replaces the first one on your dashboard.
No countdown: your dashboard shows the real status, review pending or reviewed, and you can download your Janampatrika at every step.
Create my JanampatrikaA Janam Kundli, also called a Janampatrika or Vedic birth chart, is the map of the sky at the moment and place of your birth. These are the parts you will meet first, in the order an astrologer reads them.
In short: a Janam Kundli is the Vedic birth chart made from your date, time and place of birth. Read it from the lagna (first house), then the Moon sign and nakshatra, the planets in the twelve houses, and the running Vimshottari dasha.
01What a Janam Kundli is
Vedic astrology divides the sky into twelve signs (rashis) and twenty-seven nakshatras. Your kundli records where the Sun, the Moon, the five visible planets and the two lunar nodes, Rahu and Ketu, stood in those signs when you were born, and which sign was rising in the east.
That is why three details matter: the date fixes the slow planets, the time fixes the Moon and the rising sign, and the place fixes your local sky. A difference of a few minutes in the time can change the lagna and the houses, so the exact time from your birth record is worth finding.
02Lagna: the rising sign
The lagna (ascendant) is the sign rising on the eastern horizon at your birth. It becomes the first house of your chart, and every other house is counted from it. It describes your body, nature and the way you meet life, and it changes about every two hours.
03Rashi: your Moon sign
In Indian astrology “your rashi” means the sign the Moon was in at your birth, not the Sun sign used in Western horoscopes. The Moon stands for the mind, so the rashi shows how you feel and react. Transits, Sade Sati and daily rashifal are read from it.
04Nakshatra and naam akshar
Each of the 27 nakshatras covers 13°20′ of the sky and has four padas (quarters). Your birth nakshatra is the one holding the Moon. It sets the starting point of your Vimshottari dasha, gives the traditional first syllable for a name, and is the basis of guna milan in marriage matching.
05The twelve houses (bhavas)
Each house covers one part of life. Read a house by its sign, its lord and the planets in it or aspecting it.
- 1st
- Self, body, nature
- 2nd
- Family, wealth, speech
- 3rd
- Courage, siblings, effort
- 4th
- Mother, home, comfort
- 5th
- Children, learning, intellect
- 6th
- Work, health, competition
- 7th
- Marriage, partnership
- 8th
- Longevity, research, hidden matters
- 9th
- Fortune, father, dharma
- 10th
- Career, status, karma
- 11th
- Gains, friends, wishes
- 12th
- Expenses, foreign lands, moksha
06The nine grahas
Sun (soul, authority), Moon (mind), Mars (energy), Mercury (intellect, speech), Jupiter (wisdom, guidance), Venus (love, comfort), Saturn (discipline, time), Rahu (ambition, the new) and Ketu (detachment, the inner). A planet's sign, house, strength and dignity together show how it acts in your life; that is why your Janampatrika gives shadbala for every planet.
07Divisional charts: Navamsa and more
Each sign can be divided into finer parts to look closely at one area of life. The Navamsa (D9) is the most important: it is read for marriage and inner strength. Dashamsa (D10) is read for career and Saptamsa (D7) for children. Your Janampatrika draws all sixteen classical vargas, from D1 to D60.
08Dasha: the timing of life
The Vimshottari dasha divides a life of 120 years into planetary periods. The period running now colours the years you are living: the mahadasha sets the theme, the antardasha the chapter and the pratyantar the weeks. Read the dasha lord's house and strength in your chart to see what a period brings.
09Yogas and doshas, read calmly
A yoga is a combination of planets with a classical meaning, such as Gaja Kesari or a Raja yoga. A dosha such as Manglik or Kaal Sarp is a condition to be read in context, never a verdict on its own: its strength, its cancellations and its timing all matter. Your Janampatrika lists the yogas it finds and checks Manglik and Kaal Sarp by calculation; our astrologers can look at the rest with you personally.
10A simple order for reading it
Start with “Your kundli at a glance”. Then read your lagna, Moon sign and nakshatra in words, the planets by house, and the running dasha. Keep the strength tables (shadbala, ashtakavarga) for when a question needs depth, and use the year-ahead pages to plan the coming months.
Questions
What people ask us
Can I make my kundli by date of birth and time online?
Yes. Enter your date of birth, time of birth and birth place in the form above. Your Janampatrika is calculated in about 20 seconds and you can download it as a PDF.
Can I get my Janam Kundli in Hindi?
Yes. The whole Janampatrika is available in Hindi and in English, with the same sections in either language.
What if I don't know my exact time of birth?
Choose “Approximate” and give your best estimate, and our astrologers keep it in mind when they check your kundli. The lagna changes about every two hours, so for an uncertain time our Birth Time Rectification service can estimate a likely time from events in your life.
Can I make a kundli with only my name?
No. A real Janam Kundli needs the date, time and place of birth, because the chart is the sky at that moment and place. A name alone gives only a name-based rashi, which is not your birth chart.
Which ayanamsa and chart style do you use?
Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, the standard of India's national calendar, with the true node for Rahu and Ketu. Charts are drawn in the North Indian style.
How accurate is the calculation?
Planet positions come from NASA JPL's DE440 ephemeris. Tested against Swiss Ephemeris on 500 charts, the largest difference was 2 arcseconds for planets and 6 arcseconds for the lagna. An arcsecond is 1/3,600 of a degree: the Moon moves 2 arcseconds in about 4 seconds, the lagna 6 in under half a second.
What is the difference between a Janam Kundli and a Janampatrika?
The kundli is the chart itself. The Janampatrika is the complete document built from it: all the charts, strengths, dashas and readings. On our site you receive the full Janampatrika.
Is my Moon sign the same as my rashi?
Yes. In Vedic astrology your rashi is your Moon sign. It is shown on the first pages of your Janampatrika, with your nakshatra and its pada.
Does it show Manglik dosha and Kaal Sarp?
Yes. Both are checked by calculation: the Manglik page lists each classical cancellation it checked, and Kaal Sarp is shown as forming or not. A dosha's name alone does not mean a problem. A personal assessment of other doshas, and upay guidance, are not part of the Janampatrika.
Which dashas are included?
Vimshottari dasha: every mahadasha with its antardashas, and pratyantar and sookshma tables for the periods around now.
Who checks my Janampatrika?
Our qualified astrologers. The first writes an overall note and notes on your questions; a second astrologer must approve it before your Janampatrika is marked reviewed. Your dashboard shows whether the review is pending or done, and the reviewed Janampatrika carries the date it was approved.
How do I know a kundli is genuine?
Every Janampatrika carries a Kundli ID and a QR code. Scan it, or enter the ID on our verification page, to confirm it was issued by us and has not been changed.
Can I make kundlis for my family?
Yes. Add each family member's birth details to your account, with their permission if they are adults. Each person gets their own Janampatrika on one dashboard.
Is my birth data private?
Yes. We do not sell your birth details. Our astrologers see only what they need for your kundli, and the few service providers we use, such as hosting, are listed in our privacy policy. From your account you can download your data or delete your account.
Which house of the kundli shows marriage, career and money?
The 7th house shows marriage and partnership, the 10th house career and status, and the 2nd and 11th houses money and gains. Each is read with its lord, the planets in it and the running dasha.
Which is the most important house in a kundli?
The first house, the lagna. It fixes where every other house begins and describes you yourself, so every reading starts from it.
Can my kundli tell when I will marry or get a job?
A kundli shows the periods that support an area of life: the dasha of the 7th or 10th lord and Jupiter's and Saturn's transits. It points to favourable times rather than fixed dates. Your Janampatrika answers three such questions from your own chart.
Which planet is strong in my kundli?
Strength is measured by shadbala, the six classical strengths, in rupas. Your Janampatrika gives the shadbala of every planet against its required minimum and ranks them from strongest to weakest.
What is the difference between a North Indian and a South Indian kundli?
Only the drawing. The North Indian chart fixes the houses and moves the signs; the South Indian chart fixes the signs and marks the lagna. The planets and their meanings are the same.
Can I ask an astrologer about my kundli?
Yes. From your dashboard you can send a question to our astrologers, who read it with your saved kundli, or ask for a personal consultation.
