Pingree and Morrissey 1989 and Colebrooke 1807 read it as α Andromedae. The sources differ here. The star given by the 1955 Calendar Reform Committee, whose Lahiri ayanamsa this site uses, is the one marked; the other reading is given beside it.
Star positions are worked out for the hour from the catalogue (proper motion, parallax and aberration), in the same sidereal frame as the planets, with Lahiri ayanamsa. For the 36 stars compared, Swiss Ephemeris's own star file agrees within 2.4 arc-seconds. The Moon and planets are placed as seen from the Earth's centre; from your own place the Moon can look up to about 1° away from its spot here. The figure lines are our own; each yogatara is given by at least two of the sources listed above.

Kumbh Rashifal for 16 Sep: Work, Love and Health
Aaj ka Kumbh rashifal, read from your Moon sign. Kumbh (कुंभ) is the 11th rashi, 300° to 330° of the sidereal zodiac, ruled by Saturn, and it holds Dhanishta padas 3 and 4, all four padas of Shatabhisha and Purva Bhadrapada padas 1 to 3. In English it is called Aquarius, but here it means the sign the Moon was in at your birth, not your birthday sign. Every line below names its graha, the house that graha holds from Kumbh and the classical verse behind it.

- Lord: every classical text we read gives Saturn. Some modern writers add Rahu as a co-lord of Kumbh; no text we read says so, so it is not used here.
A name rashi is the janma rashi only when the name was chosen from the birth nakshatra's syllable. Each fact is given in at least two classical texts, and where the texts differ both readings are shown. Left out: the element (tattva), which only one of the texts we read gives (Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 4); and any colour, number or stone for a rashi, which none of them ties to good fortune.

Questions
Kumbh Rashi Questions
Who is the lord (swami) of Kumbh rashi?
Saturn, the lord of Kumbh, is in Meen on 16 Sep, the 2nd house from Kumbh, until 3 Jun 2027, 5:28 AM. Saturn rules Kumbh in every classical text we read: Brihat Jataka 1.6, Saravali 3.11 and Phaladeepika 1.6. Saturn also rules Makar.
Which name letters (naam akshar) belong to Kumbh rashi?
On 16 Sep, the Moon is in Vrishchik; its next stay in Kumbh runs from 23 Sep, 9:57 PM to 26 Sep, 5:33 AM: a child born in those hours has Kumbh as janma rashi. Kumbh's nine name syllables, one for each nakshatra pada, are Gu, Ge (Dhanishta 3–4); Go, Sa, Si, Su (Shatabhisha 1–4); Se, So, Da (Purva Bhadrapada 1–3). A name starting with one of them gives Kumbh as the name rashi, which matches the janma rashi only when the name was chosen from the birth nakshatra.
Which nakshatras are in Kumbh rashi?
On 16 Sep, the Moon is in Vishakha; its next pass through Kumbh begins in Dhanishta pada 3, from 23 Sep, 9:57 PM. Kumbh covers 300° to 330° of the sidereal zodiac: Dhanishta padas 3 and 4, all four padas of Shatabhisha and Purva Bhadrapada padas 1 to 3, nine nakshatra padas in all, as every rashi has (Brihat Jataka 1.4, Hora Sara 1.13). If your rashi is Kumbh, your birth nakshatra is one of these.
What are Kumbh rashi people like?
The texts agree mainly on build: a tall, sturdy frame with broad hips and strong legs. Two of them also describe a liking for travel and the stamina for long journeys. On temperament they say different things, so only these shared points are given. These are the points that at least two of Brihat Jataka 17.11, Saravali 23.72 and Hora Sara 29.11 share. Brihat Jataka 17.13 adds that this picture holds in full only when the Moon, Kumbh and its lord Saturn are all strong in the birth chart, and Hora Sara 29.13 that a graha joining or aspecting the Moon changes it, so your own kundli says more than the rashi alone.
When do Sade Sati and Shani dhaiya start and end for Kumbh rashi?
Sade Sati is running for Kumbh on 16 Sep, in its third and last phase: Saturn is in Meen, the 2nd house from Kumbh. It began on 24 Jan 2020 and ends with Saturn's final exit on 23 Feb 2028, with Saturn stepping out of it from 3 Jun 2027 to 20 Oct 2027. The next dhaiya (kantaka, Saturn in the 4th) for Kumbh runs from 8 Aug 2029 to 31 May 2032, with Saturn stepping out of it from 5 Oct 2029 to 17 Apr 2030. Each span runs from Saturn's first entry to its final exit, with every pause shown, and is counted from the Moon sign as Phaladeepika 26.22–23 and Brihat Samhita 104 count it. Classically Sade Sati and dhaiya ask for steady effort and patience; neither is a fixed outcome.
When does the time change for Kumbh rashi?
Jupiter moves into Singh on 31 Oct, 12:03 PM, the 7th house from Kumbh; Rahu moves into Makar and Ketu into Kark on 25 Nov, 5:46 PM, the 12th and 6th houses from Kumbh (true node; by the mean node many almanacs print, on 5 Dec); Saturn moves into Mesh on 3 Jun 2027, 5:28 AM, the 3rd house from Kumbh. Saturn, Jupiter and Rahu–Ketu stay in a sign for many months, so their changes set the background for Kumbh, and each change above names the house it brings. The daily reading on this page weighs all nine grahas together, and no rashi has a good or a poor time as a whole.
What is Kumbh rashi in English?
On 16 Sep, at 5:25 PM, the Sun is in Virgo 23°39′ by the tropical zodiac that birthday signs use, but in Singh 29°25′ by the sidereal zodiac of Vedic astrology. Kumbh is called Aquarius in English, yet a rashi is the Moon's sign at birth in the sidereal zodiac, not the birthday sign, so someone whose birthday makes them Aquarius need not have Kumbh rashi.
