Your 10th house
Your 10th house is Mithun. The texts read the 10th as the house of work: livelihood, standing and the good name your work earns.1
The texts put both service and trade under the 10th house.2
The texts name four karakas (significators) of the 10th: Jupiter, the Sun, Mercury and Saturn; one text names Mercury alone.3
The Sun is in your 10th house, in Mithun, a neutral sign. Classically, this is linked with strength and courage in your work, and with support through your father or a father figure.4, 5, 6
Jupiter is in your 10th house, in Mithun, an unfriendly sign. Classically, this is linked with steady prosperity through work, and with support through your brothers.5, 6, 7, 8
Venus is in your 10th house, in Mithun, a friendly sign. Classically, this is linked with a comfortable, prosperous livelihood, and with support through your spouse or the women in your circle.5, 6, 9
By bhava chalit (counted from the house cusps), your 10th holds Venus; the Sun and Jupiter fall in a neighbouring house by this count.
The texts count the Sun and Mars strongest near the top of the chart. Yours: Sun 51 of 60, Mars 42 of 60.10
Your 10th house has 24 bindus in the sarvashtakavarga. By our count of 12,000 charts, most 10th houses have 25 to 36.
Your 10th lord
Mercury, your 10th lord, is in Kark (an unfriendly sign) in your 11th house, the house of gains, 13.8° from the Sun (combust). Six-fold strength (shadbala): 6.2 rupas against the classical minimum of 7.1
Livelihood: the karmajiva rule
| From | 10th sign | Its lord, navamsha | Karmajiva |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lagna | Mithun | Mercury, Tula navamsha | Venus |
| Moon | Dhanu | Jupiter, Mithun navamsha | Mercury |
| Sun | Meen | Jupiter, Mithun navamsha | Mercury |
From your lagna: your 10th lord, Mercury, is in a Tula navamsha, ruled by Venus. The texts link Venus with silver, ornaments and decoration, music and dance, cows and dairy, and horses and elephants.1, 2
From your Moon: the 10th from it is Dhanu; its lord, Jupiter, is in a Mithun navamsha, ruled by Mercury. The texts link Mercury with writing, calculation and mathematics, poetry and letters, and study.1, 3
From your Sun: the 10th from it is Meen; its lord, Jupiter, is in a Mithun navamsha, ruled by Mercury. The texts link Mercury with writing, calculation and mathematics, poetry and letters, and study.1, 3
In today's words, our reading of Venus: the arts, music and dance, design and decoration, jewellery, and dairy and animal care.
In today's words, our reading of Mercury: writing, accounts, analysis, teaching.
Two of the three readings (from your Moon and your Sun) point to Mercury.
Phaladeepika 5.1 asks for the strongest of the three but does not say how to measure it. Bhattotpala, commenting on Brihat Jataka 10.1, says every one should be read. So we show all three.4
Your D10 (dashamsha)
The 1st house here is the D10 lagna, Vrishabh.
Ringed: the 10th lord, Mercury
In your D10, Mercury, your 10th lord, is in Kark: neither its own nor its exaltation sign.1
In your D10, Venus, your karmajiva planet from your lagna, is in Mithun: neither its own nor its exaltation sign.
Classically, the D10 is one of the divisional charts that count towards a planet's strength; the texts say 'great results' are seen from it.2
Your D10 lagna is Vrishabh. It would be Mithun if you were born 5.1 minutes later and Mesh if 22 minutes earlier. The texts we read give no rules for reading the D10 lagna, so we show it and do not read it.
Your amatyakaraka
Your amatyakaraka, the 'minister' planet in Jaimini's scheme, is the Sun: after Jupiter, your atmakaraka, it has the highest degree in its sign. It is in Mithun in your 10th house, and in Meen in your D10.1
The two are only 58″ apart.
Counting 8 karakas (with Rahu), it is also the Sun.2
Yogas that touch work and money
Kendra–trikona yoga about 3 in 4 charts
Mercury, lord of your 1st and 10th, and Venus, lord of your 9th, are linked, as Venus sits in a sign ruled by Mercury; Jupiter, lord of your 4th and 7th, and Venus, lord of your 9th, are together in your 10th house. Classically, related lords of a kendra and a trikona form a yoga for standing (raja yoga). It is one of the most common combinations: about 3 in 4 charts have it by this rule.1, 2
Timing: dasha
Running now: Sun mahadasha until 6 May 2029, Saturn antardasha until 22 Feb 2027, Moon pratyantar until 27 Oct 2026.
The Sun rules your 12th house and sits in your 10th.
Saturn rules your 5th and 6th houses and sits in your 4th.
The Moon rules your 11th house and sits in your 7th.
From 22 Feb 2027 to 30 Dec 2027, Mercury, your 10th lord, runs the antardasha (in the Sun mahadasha). The texts link the 10th lord's period with work and standing; how it unfolds follows the lord's strength, shown above.1
From 6 Mar 2035 to 5 Aug 2036, Mercury, your 10th lord, runs the antardasha (in the Moon mahadasha). The texts link the 10th lord's period with work and standing; how it unfolds follows the lord's strength, shown above.1
Mercury, a planet of your kendra–trikona yoga: its antardasha runs from 22 Feb 2027 to 30 Dec 2027 (in the Sun mahadasha); again from 6 Mar 2035 to 5 Aug 2036 (in the Moon mahadasha). Classically, a yoga shows most in the periods of the planets that form it.2
Venus, a planet of your kendra–trikona yoga: its antardasha runs from 5 May 2028 to 6 May 2029 (in the Sun mahadasha); again from 6 Mar 2037 to 5 Nov 2038 (in the Moon mahadasha). Classically, a yoga shows most in the periods of the planets that form it.2
Jupiter, a planet of your kendra–trikona yoga: its antardasha runs from 5 Apr 2032 to 5 Aug 2033 (in the Moon mahadasha). Classically, a yoga shows most in the periods of the planets that form it.2
Every dasha date here moves about 68 days for every 15 minutes your birth time is off.
The vimshottari years here are 365.25 days long.

Saturn is in your Moon sign, Meen, the middle phase of Sade Sati, until 3 Jun 2027. The texts do not make Sade Sati a verdict on work; for work they look at the 10th lord's period and Saturn's place from your Moon, shown here.12
In the next 24 months neither Jupiter nor Saturn enters your 10th house or the 10th from your Moon; the other rows here show where the slow planets do fall for you in this stretch.
How sure is this?
Your lagna, Kanya, holds if you were born up to 8.4 minutes earlier or 2 hours later. Born earlier than that, your lagna would be Singh and your 10th house Vrishabh, not Mithun; later, Tula, and your 10th Kark.
D10 lagna (Vrishabh): holds 22 minutes earlier and 5.1 minutes later.
Atmakaraka and amatyakaraka (Jupiter, the Sun): they hold for 31 minutes later, then the Sun and Jupiter; earlier, they do not change within an hour.
Dasha dates: about 68 days for every 15 minutes.
If your birth time is in doubt, birth-time rectification can narrow it.
How this chart is worked out
Method: sidereal zodiac with Lahiri ayanamsa; whole-sign houses; Rahu and Ketu by the true node; 7 chara karakas read first, with 8 shown when they differ; vimshottari dasha with a 365.25-day year; positions from NASA JPL DE440s, checked against a second ephemeris.
OfficialAstrology™ works out every value here with its own engine; a human astrologer writes the reading.
Career astrology
Your Career Reading
In the example chart, the 10th lord is Mercury and the running period is Sun mahadasha, Saturn antardasha until 22 Feb 2027; a reading weighs facts like these together.
The chart above lists facts, and what the texts link with each one. It cannot weigh them against each other, or against your own situation. Your astrologer does that: they read the facts together, answer your own questions, and write a calm note on what to build in this period. The reading has three parts: Career and work, Money and finance, and Timing ahead.
How it works
- 1.
Written
One of our astrologers reads your career chart, the same one shown on this page, with your questions, and writes your reading.
- 2.
Checked
A second astrologer reads it and approves it. One writes, one checks; only then does it reach you.
- 3.
On your dashboard
Your dashboard shows the real status, review pending or delivered, with the date. There is no countdown.
Your name and gender are asked on the next step, with your account.
Personal guidance is optional; you never have to buy any remedy, item or service.
What Your 10th House Says About Your Work (Dasham Bhav)
In the example chart, the 10th house is Mithun, holding the Sun, Jupiter and Venus.
The texts call the 10th the house of work: livelihood, rank, honour and the good name your work earns, and Phaladeepika adds trade. Money is read from two more houses: the 2nd for what you hold and save, the 11th for income and gains. Phaladeepika 1.10, 1.15 · Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 11.3, 11.11–12
Classically, a house does well when benefics join or aspect it and its lord is well placed, and it asks for more effort when its lord is combust or in its debilitation sign. For the karakas of the 10th, Phaladeepika names four: Jupiter, the Sun, Mercury and Saturn; Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra names Mercury, and neither text calls Saturn the one karma karaka. Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 11.14–16 · Phaladeepika 15.1–3, 15.17 · Jataka Parijata 15.1 · Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 32.34
Where Your 10th Lord Sits
In the example chart, the 10th lord, Mercury, is in the 11th house, in Kark, an unfriendly sign (combust); its six-fold strength is 6.2 rupas against a classical minimum of 7.
The lord of the 10th carries the house's matters to wherever it sits. Classically, a 10th lord in its own or exaltation sign carries work forward, and one in its debilitation sign, with no benefic joining or aspecting it, asks for steady, patient effort. Combustion, retrogression and the 8th house are shown as facts, because only one text reads them here. Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 21.2–3 · Saravali 33.2 · Phaladeepika 15.3
Its strength is shown as shadbala in rupas, against the classical minimum for that planet. The texts also give a line for the 10th lord in each of the twelve houses. A second text agrees for the 1st, and for the 2nd in the lord's own or exaltation sign; the other ten wait for a second text. Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 27.32 · Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 24.109–110 · Jataka Parijata 11.18
Which Work Suits Me? The Classical Livelihood Rule (Karmajiva)
In the example chart, the livelihood rule points to Venus from the lagna, Mercury from the Moon and Mercury from the Sun.
Brihat Jataka and Phaladeepika give one rule. Find the lord of the 10th, counted from the lagna, the Moon and the Sun; see which navamsha it occupies; the lord of that navamsha names the kind of work through which a living comes. Each planet has a classical list: for Mercury, writing, calculation, poetry and study. Brihat Jataka 10.1–3 · Phaladeepika 5.1–8 · Horasara 22.1–11
We show only items found in two of the texts, never the harsh ones, and beside each list one fixed line labelled 'in today's words, our reading'. Phaladeepika asks for the strongest of the three but does not say how to measure it; Bhattotpala, on Brihat Jataka 10.1, says every one should be read, so all three are shown. A chart names kinds of work, not a job title; the choice stays yours. Phaladeepika 5.1 · Horasara 22.3 · Brihat Jataka 10.1
The D10 (Dashamsha) Chart: the Career Chart Within Your Birth Chart
In the example chart, the D10 lagna is Vrishabh, holding for 22 minutes earlier and 5.1 minutes later; the 10th lord, Mercury, is in Kark in the D10.
Each sign is cut into ten parts of 3°. In an odd sign the parts are counted from the sign itself, in an even sign from its 9th, so Singh 27°–30° and Kanya 0°–3° fall in the same D10 sign. The texts use the D10 for a planet's strength: Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra says 'great results' are seen from it. Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 6.13, 7.3 · Phaladeepika 3.1–2, 3.6
They give no rules for the D10 lagna or its houses, so we show the D10 lagna as a fact and do not read it. It moves fast: in our count it changes within 5 minutes either side of the birth time in 78 of 100 births, and within 10 minutes in 98.
Amatyakaraka: the Planet of Your Work, and Why Calculators Disagree
In the example chart, the amatyakaraka is the Sun with 7 karakas, and the same with 8 (counting Rahu).
In Jaimini's scheme the planets are ranked by their degree within their signs. The highest is the atmakaraka; the next is the amatyakaraka, the 'minister'. Both texts allow seven karakas (the Sun to Saturn) or eight (with Rahu, counted as 30° minus its degree). Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 32.1–2, 32.13–17 · Jaimini Sutras 1.1.11, 1.1.13
That one choice changes the answer in about 1 in 4 births, and with eight, taking the mean node for the true one changes it in about 1 in 11 more. That is why calculators disagree. We read seven first, as our Janampatrika does, and show the eight-karaka answer whenever it differs. The texts we read agree on no outcome lines for it, so it is shown as a fact.
Job or Business: What the Texts Say (Job Ya Business)
In the example chart, the 10th house is Mithun and its lord, Mercury, sits in the 11th house; the texts read service and trade alike from these same facts.
Many pages give a verdict from the 6th, 7th and 11th houses. The texts we read do not. Phaladeepika puts trade (vyapara) in the 10th itself, and Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra links the 10th lord with gains through patronage and through business alike. Phaladeepika 1.15 · Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 21.4
The livelihood lists mix service and trade too: the Sun's includes work under an authority, Mercury's calculation and letters, Saturn's work with many helpers. Reading the 6th as 'service' is modern usage, not a classical rule. So this page gives no verdict between the two. Your astrologer weighs the chart with your situation and your skills, and that is where the choice is made. Brihat Jataka 10.2–3 · Phaladeepika 5.2–8
Is There a Government Job Yoga in My Kundli?
In the example chart, the 10th lord is in neither a Sun nor a Jupiter navamsha, from the lagna, the Moon or the Sun; the 10th lord, Mercury, next runs its antardasha from 22 Feb 2027 to 30 Dec 2027.
No verse in the texts we read defines a yoga for government jobs, so we do not claim one, and no single planet decides it. What the texts do say: when the 10th lord sits in a Sun navamsha, livelihood comes through service under a ruler or an authority; a Jupiter navamsha is linked with support from seniors and institutions; and the 10th lord's period with honour from the authorities. Phaladeepika 5.2, 5.6 · Horasara 22.4, 22.8 · Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 48.6
Selection depends on the exam: your preparation and the exam dates come first.
When Will I Get a Job? Dasha and Transit Timing (Naukri Kab Lagegi)
In the example chart, the running period is Sun mahadasha, Saturn antardasha until 22 Feb 2027; the 10th lord, Mercury, next runs its antardasha from 22 Feb 2027 to 30 Dec 2027.
First the dasha: the texts link the 10th lord's period with work, as its strength allows. Transits from your Moon sign, classically: the Sun in the 10th marks a month of success in work, the 11th of standing and gains; Saturn brings standing and helpers in the 3rd, ease in the 6th, gains in the 11th. Phaladeepika 20.11, 26.1, 26.11, 26.22–23 · Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 48.6 · Brihat Samhita 104.7, 104.41–45
Jupiter in the 10th from the Moon is no big break: both texts read it as possible changes at work, and a job change is read from the same dasha and transits. Phaladeepika 26.20 · Brihat Samhita 104.31
Preparing for an exam? Your exam dates and steady preparation come first. The chart only adds context; it is never a reason to start later or to skip a form.
Money in Your Chart: 2nd and 11th Houses, Dhana Yoga and Raja Yoga
In the example chart, the yogas found that touch work and money: kendra–trikona yoga.
Money is read from the 2nd house, what you hold, and the 11th, income and gains. This page checks a short list of yogas, each defined in two texts, and shows only those present, with how common each one is: the 9th and 10th lords together, kendra and trikona lords related, Amala, the five Mahapurusha yogas, benefics in the growth houses from the Moon, an exchange of the 2nd and 11th lords, and benefics with strength in the 1st, 2nd or 11th. Phaladeepika 6.1–4, 6.19, 6.37 · Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 34.11–15, 36.5–6, 37.6 · Brihat Jataka 10.4, 13.9
A broad 'raja yoga' found in most charts is never shown here. A dhana yoga is read, never bought.
How Exact Must Your Birth Time Be?
In the example chart, the lagna, Kanya, holds for 8.4 minutes earlier and 2 hours later; the D10 lagna, Vrishabh, for 22 minutes earlier and 5.1 minutes later.
More exact than for most questions. In our count of births, the D10 lagna changes within 5 minutes either side of the birth time in 78 of 100, and within 10 minutes in 98; the lagna itself changes within 15 minutes in about 1 in 4. Birth certificates often round to 5 minutes.
So every chart on this page measures its own windows, and every dasha date says how far it moves for each 15 minutes. If you mark the time as approximate, the chart checks 30 minutes either side and shows every item that changes, with both values; it never picks one silently. If your birth time is in doubt, rectification from the events of your life can narrow it.
How We Read a Career Chart
In the example chart, the lagna is Kanya and the Moon is in Meen, worked out from NASA JPL DE440s positions.
Positions come from NASA JPL's DE440s ephemeris, in the sidereal zodiac with Lahiri ayanamsa, whole-sign houses and the true node for Rahu and Ketu. Seven chara karakas are read first; the vimshottari year is 365.25 days. On a check of 500 charts against a second ephemeris, positions differed by at most 0.3 arcseconds, and every career fact came out the same, with dasha dates within about an hour.
Every line says which text and verse it rests on; a rule found in one text only waits for a second before the page uses it. Where the texts differ, the line says so. Our own engine computes; a human astrologer writes the reading.
What this page applies, and what it leaves out
- Every value is worked out from your date, time and place of birth with NASA JPL DE440s positions, the sidereal zodiac (Lahiri ayanamsa) and whole-sign houses; Rahu and Ketu use the true node.
- Livelihood follows Brihat Jataka 10.1–3 and Phaladeepika 5.1–8: the lord of the navamsha the 10th lord occupies, read from the lagna, the Moon and the Sun. Iyer's Brihat Jataka 10.1 and Horasara 22.3 use this step when the 10th holds no planet; Phaladeepika 5.1 uses it always, and this page follows Phaladeepika 5.1.
- The kinds of work listed for each planet are only those found in at least two of Brihat Jataka, Phaladeepika and Horasara; harsh items are never shown.
- The line 'in today's words' is our reading, fixed once per planet; it is never a job title.
- Classically, a planet gives its results fully in its exaltation sign, three-quarters in its moolatrikona, half in its own sign, a quarter in a friend's sign, and least in an unfriendly or debilitation sign.
- For Amala and the wealth yogas, the Moon counts as a benefic in the bright half (Shukla paksha) and not in the dark half (Krishna paksha).
- Lords of the 9th and 10th that also rule the 3rd, 6th, 8th or 11th do not form this yoga by being together.
- For the kendra–trikona yoga too, a lord that also rules the 3rd, 6th, 8th or 11th forms no yoga by relation alone.
- A yogakaraka is named only for the four lagnas whose yogakaraka Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra names: Vrishabh, Kark, Makar and Kumbh. For Singh and Tula the text names other yoga-makers, so there the ownership is shown as a fact.
- For the Mahapurusha yogas, Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 75.1 adds that the planet should be strong; Phaladeepika 6.1 and Saravali 37.2 do not, so the sign alone is used.
- Brihat Jataka 10.4 and Saravali 33.82 ask for benefics with strength in the 1st, 2nd or 11th; our test of strength is the planet's own or exaltation sign.
- 'About 1 in N' is our own count over 12,000 births (six Indian cities, 1950–2010), made with this page's code.
- The typical range of a 10th house's bindus is our own count over the same births; the texts' names for the bands are not used.
- Transits over your 10th house sign, and over the sign your 10th lord occupies at birth, are shown as facts with the planet's own bindus; the bands (5 or more: good support; 4: middle; 3 or fewer: less support) are ours.
- Transit readings are counted from your Moon sign, as Phaladeepika 26.1 directs, with the same rules and words as our rashifal.
- Chara karakas: seven (Sun to Saturn) are read first, as Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 32.2 allows; the eight-karaka answer (Rahu counted as 30° minus its degree) is shown whenever it differs.
- The classical minimum of six-fold strength follows Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 27.32 (the Sun 6.5 rupas).
- Vimshottari dasha with a year of 365.25 days; every date moves with the birth time, and the page says by how much.
- What Rahu or Ketu in the 10th means for work: the texts differ, so it is shown as a fact only.
- Names for the 10th house's bindus: not approved, so the number and our typical range are shown.
- A combust 10th lord, or one in the 8th, as a reading: one text, so both are shown as facts.
- The 10th lord's house-by-house lines: a second text agrees only for the lagna, and for the 2nd in the lord's own or exaltation sign; the other ten wait for a second text.
- Which of the lagna, Moon and Sun is strongest: Phaladeepika 5.1 asks for it, but no text says how to measure it, so all three are shown.
- Earning at home or away (Phaladeepika 5.9, Horasara 22.14–15): two texts give the rule, but its two tests can point different ways in one chart, so this page does not read it; your astrologer weighs it.
- Readings of the D10 lagna, D10 houses or the '10th of D10': no verse in the texts we read, so the D10 lagna is shown as a fact.
- The deities of the ten D10 parts: one text.
- A tie between two karakas to the second of arc: Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra gives two rules, so no karaka is picked on a tie.
- What the amatyakaraka brings (Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 40): one text, so it is not read.
- The 2nd and 11th lords together in a kendra or trikona: one text.
- Khyati, Dhenu and Suparijata yogas: one text.
- A broad 'raja yoga' found in most charts: never shown on this page.
- Which part of a period gives its results: the texts differ.
- The dasha of the amatyakaraka or of the karmajiva planet: no verse read.
- Double transit (Jupiter and Saturn together on the 10th): no verse read.
- Transit aspects, and transits over the 10th lord's degree: no verse read.
- The sign on the 10th as a line of work: one text.
- The 6th house as 'service' or a job: modern usage, not in the texts read.
- Planetary war: not used.
- Quoted verse wording on the chips waits for a re-read against each edition; the text and verse number are shown.
- A 'government job yoga': no verse in the texts we read defines one, so none is claimed.
- Sade Sati as a verdict on work: not what the texts say.
- A job-or-business verdict: the texts put both under the 10th and give no verdict; your astrologer weighs it.
Questions
Career Astrology Questions
Can astrology predict my career from my date of birth?
It shows tendencies and timing from your chart: the 10th house and its lord, the D10, the livelihood rule and the running dasha. It does not choose for you. A chart names kinds of work, not a job title, and every line on this page says which text it rests on.
Do I need my exact birth time?
Yes, more than for most questions. In our count, the D10 lagna changes within 5 minutes either side of the birth time in 78 of 100 births, and the lagna within 15 minutes in about 1 in 4. If you are unsure, mark the time as approximate: the chart then shows every item that changes within 30 minutes, with both values.
Which house in the kundli is for career?
The 10th, the karma bhava: livelihood, rank, honour and trade, in Phaladeepika 1.15 and Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 11.11. It is read with its lord and the planets in it. Money comes from the 2nd (what you hold) and the 11th (income and gains).
What is the D10 (dashamsha) chart, and how is it read for career?
Each sign is cut into ten parts of 3°, by the rule of Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 6.13 and Phaladeepika 3.6. The texts use the D10 for a planet's strength: whether the 10th lord and the livelihood planets sit in their own or exaltation signs there. They give no rules for the D10 lagna, so we show it with its time window and do not read it.
What is the amatyakaraka, and why do sites show different ones?
It is the planet with the second-highest degree in its sign, in Jaimini's scheme. Counting seven or eight karakas changes it in about 1 in 4 births, and with eight, the mean or the true node changes it in about 1 in 11 more. We read seven first and show the eight-karaka answer when it differs.
Job or business: which suits my chart?
The texts we read put both service and trade under the 10th house and give no verdict between them; reading the 6th as 'service' is modern usage. So this page does not pick one. Your astrologer weighs your chart with your situation and your skills, and the decision is yours.
Is there a government job yoga in my kundli? Which planet gives a government job?
No verse in the texts we read defines such a yoga, so we do not claim one, and no single planet decides it. The texts link a 10th lord in a Sun navamsha with service under an authority, a Jupiter navamsha with support from seniors and institutions, and the 10th lord's period with honour from the authorities. Selection depends on the exam.
When will I get a job?
No chart fixes a date. The texts link the 10th lord's period with work moving forward, and transits from your Moon sign colour each month. The chart above lists the 10th lord's periods over the next 12 years and the transits of the next 24 months, each with its dates. Your exam dates and steady preparation come first.
Which dasha gives a job or a government job?
No dasha gives a job by itself. Classically, the 10th lord's own period is the one linked with success in what you begin, a settled position and rising honour (Phaladeepika 20.11), and with honour from the authorities (Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 48.6). How it unfolds follows that planet's strength.
Will I work or settle abroad?
Two texts give a rule for earning at home or away (Phaladeepika 5.9 · Horasara 22.14–15). It has two tests that can point different ways in one chart, so this page does not read it; your astrologer weighs it.
Does Sade Sati or a Saturn or Rahu mahadasha decide my job?
No. Sade Sati is Saturn's passage over your Moon sign, and the classical texts do not make it a verdict on work; for work they look at the 10th lord's period and Saturn's place from your Moon. A Saturn or Rahu period is read by that planet's houses and strength in your own chart, like any other period.
Can a chart name the exact job I should do?
No. Brihat Jataka 10 and Phaladeepika 5 name kinds of work through the navamsha lord of the 10th lord, such as writing and calculation for Mercury. We show those lists, and one line in today's words labelled as our reading, never a job title. The reading helps you choose; the choice is yours.
Can a Dhan Yoga be bought or put on?
No. In the texts a dhana yoga is a link between house lords, or benefics in particular houses, in your birth chart, fixed at the moment you were born. It is read, never bought, and no object or ritual creates one. The chart above shows the money yogas present, with how common each one is.
Is my birth data stored?
Not for this chart. If you are not signed in, the date, time and place you type are used to work out your chart for this one request; they are not saved, put in an address, logged or shared. If you are signed in, the chart uses a person saved in your own account. Details are saved only when you go on to request a reading and create your account.
