Every house is counted from Kanya, so this chart is Kanya's gochar on that day. Positions at 12:00 PM, sidereal (Lahiri). The number in each house is its rashi: 1 for Mesh to 12 for Meen. R after a graha: retrograde.
Kanya on 21 Oct: the Moon is in your 6th from 7:01 AM, classically supportive, but it shares Kumbh with Rahu, so its support is muted.

For the 36 stars compared, Swiss Ephemeris's own star file agrees within 2.4 arc-seconds. The Moon and planets are placed as seen from the Earth's centre; from your own place the Moon can look up to about 1° away from its spot here. The figure lines are our own; each yogatara is given by at least two of the sources listed above.

Kanya Rashifal for 21 Oct: Work, Love and Health
Aaj ka Kanya rashifal, read from your Moon sign. Kanya (कन्या) is the 6th rashi, 150° to 180° of the sidereal zodiac, ruled by Mercury, and it holds Uttara Phalguni padas 2 to 4, all four padas of Hasta and Chitra padas 1 and 2. In English it is called Virgo, but here it means the sign the Moon was in at your birth, not your birthday sign. Every line below names its graha, the house that graha holds from Kanya and the classical verse behind it.
Mixed?

A name rashi is the janma rashi only when the name was chosen from the birth nakshatra's syllable. Each fact is given in at least two classical texts, and where the texts differ both readings are shown. Left out: the element (tattva), which only one of the texts we read gives (Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra 4); and any colour, number or stone for a rashi, which none of them ties to good fortune.

Questions
Kanya Rashi Questions
Who is the lord (swami) of Kanya rashi?
Mercury, the lord of Kanya, is in Tula on 21 Oct, the 2nd house from Kanya, until 2 Dec, 5:28 PM. Mercury rules Kanya in every classical text we read: Brihat Jataka 1.6, Saravali 3.11 and Phaladeepika 1.6. Mercury also rules Mithun.
Which name letters (naam akshar) belong to Kanya rashi?
On 21 Oct, the Moon is in Kumbh; its next stay in Kanya runs from 5 Nov, 9:35 AM to 7 Nov, 5:15 PM: a child born in those hours has Kanya as janma rashi. Kanya's nine name syllables, one for each nakshatra pada, are To, Pa, Pi (Uttara Phalguni 2–4); Pu, Sha, Na, Tha (Hasta 1–4); Pe, Po (Chitra 1–2). A name starting with one of them gives Kanya as the name rashi, which matches the janma rashi only when the name was chosen from the birth nakshatra.
Which nakshatras are in Kanya rashi?
On 21 Oct, the Moon is in Dhanishta; its next pass through Kanya begins in Uttara Phalguni pada 2, from 5 Nov, 9:35 AM. Kanya covers 150° to 180° of the sidereal zodiac: Uttara Phalguni padas 2 to 4, all four padas of Hasta and Chitra padas 1 and 2, nine nakshatra padas in all, as every rashi has (Brihat Jataka 1.4, Hora Sara 1.13). If your rashi is Kanya, your birth nakshatra is one of these.
What are Kanya rashi people like?
They are described as truthful and learned, gentle and sweet in speech, of good conduct, with a pleasing face and gaze. These are the points that at least two of Brihat Jataka 17.6, Saravali 23.37 and Hora Sara 29.6 share. Brihat Jataka 17.13 adds that this picture holds in full only when the Moon, Kanya and its lord Mercury are all strong in the birth chart, and Hora Sara 29.13 that a graha joining or aspecting the Moon changes it, so your own kundli says more than the rashi alone.
When do Sade Sati and Shani dhaiya start and end for Kanya rashi?
Neither Sade Sati nor dhaiya is running for Kanya on 21 Oct: Saturn is in Meen, the 7th house from Kanya. The next dhaiya (ashtama, Saturn in the 8th) for Kanya runs from 3 Jun 2027 to 17 Apr 2030, with Saturn stepping out of it from 20 Oct 2027 to 23 Feb 2028 and 8 Aug 2029 to 5 Oct 2029. Each span runs from Saturn's first entry to its final exit, with every pause shown, and is counted from the Moon sign as Phaladeepika 26.22–23 and Brihat Samhita 104 count it. Classically Sade Sati and dhaiya ask for steady effort and patience; neither is a fixed outcome.
When does the time change for Kanya rashi?
Jupiter moves into Singh on 31 Oct, 12:03 PM, the 12th house from Kanya; Rahu moves into Makar and Ketu into Kark on 25 Nov, 5:46 PM, the 5th and 11th houses from Kanya (true node; by the mean node many almanacs print, on 5 Dec); Saturn moves into Mesh on 3 Jun 2027, 5:28 AM, the 8th house from Kanya. Saturn, Jupiter and Rahu–Ketu stay in a sign for many months, so their changes set the background for Kanya, and each change above names the house it brings. The daily reading on this page weighs all nine grahas together, and no rashi has a good or a poor time as a whole.
What is Kanya rashi in English?
On 21 Oct, at 3:30 PM, the Sun is in Libra 28°01′ by the tropical zodiac that birthday signs use, but in Tula 3°48′ by the sidereal zodiac of Vedic astrology. Kanya is called Virgo in English, yet a rashi is the Moon's sign at birth in the sidereal zodiac, not the birthday sign, so someone whose birthday makes them Virgo need not have Kanya rashi.

- House (bhava)
- The count of signs from your Moon sign; the Moon sign itself is the 1st.
- Vedha (obstruction)
- A favourable transit is held back while another graha sits in its paired house (Phaladeepika 26.3–8).
- The Moon's company
- The grahas in the Moon's sign; the Sun, Mars, Saturn, Rahu or Ketu there mute a supportive Moon (Muhurta Chintamani 4.7; Brihat Samhita 104.56).
- Bright half (Shukla paksha)
- The waxing fortnight, from the new moon to the full moon; then the Moon is also counted supportive in the 2nd, 5th and 9th (Muhurta Chintamani 4.4; Narada Samhita 13.2).
- Chandrabala
- The Moon's strength for you, counted from your Moon sign: houses 1, 3, 6, 7, 10 and 11 are good.
- Tarabala
- The strength of the day's nakshatra for you, counted from your birth nakshatra in rounds of nine.
- Retrograde (vakri)
- Seen from Earth the graha appears to move backwards; shown as a fact only, as the texts differ on its meaning in transit.
- Direct (margi)
- The graha moves forward again after a retrograde spell.
- Combust (asta)
- The graha is so close to the Sun that it is lost in its glare; in a favourable house its support is counted as muted (Phaladeepika 26.32; Narada Samhita 12.11).
- Felt most
- The third of a sign in which a graha's transit is classically felt most: the Sun and Mars the first, Jupiter and Venus the middle, the Moon and Saturn the last (Phaladeepika 26.25; Muhurta Chintamani 4.19).
- Mean-node reckoning
- Rahu and Ketu by their average motion, which many almanacs print; its dates can differ from the true node by days.
- Supportive hours
- The panchang's good windows for new work in your city, inside the hours when the Moon is supportive for your rashi.
- Exalted (uchcha)
- The sign where a graha is strongest (BPHS ch. 3).
- Debilitated (neecha)
- The sign opposite its exaltation, where a graha is weakest (BPHS ch. 3).
